Caring For Your Smile After Porcelain Veneers

Your excitement at seeing how porcelain veneers improve your smile can be muddied by one concern – how do you care for your teeth after veneers are placed? Luckily, care for your smile after this cosmetic dental procedure will not change much from the care you provided before. Brushing and flossing will still take place like normal, though your dentist can recommend that you switch to a toothpaste that is non-abrasive. Your veneers can resist stains, but they do not respond to professional whitening agents in a favorable way. That means if they do become discolored, they cannot be treated like your natural teeth. Be mindful of this and of how often you consume dark liquids like coffee, tea, and red wine.

Placing Your Veneers
Your veneers are permanently affixed, so you will not be able to remove them when you eat or drink. They are custom made at a dental lab, using measurements supplied by your dentist. Those measurements are taken during your initial appointment, where your dentist may also treat the front of the teeth to make sure veneers fit properly. After they have been crafted, your veneers will be sent to your dentist, who will bond them to the front of your teeth.

Bruxism Can Put Your Veneers In Jeopardy
One issue you should watch out for after receiving veneers is bruxism. This is a habit of teeth grinding, one that can lead to frequent bouts of grinding while you sleep. Putting a stop to this is important. Without intervention, the habit can wind up leading to serious damage to your cosmetic restorations.

Change the Alignment of Your Teeth with Invisalign

You may be surprised to find that with Invisalign, you can make changes to the alignment of your teeth without traditional braces. Many patients, particularly teens and adults, are relieved to know they can enjoy a correction without conspicuous brackets and wires on their teeth. You might like the idea of clear braces, but still be unsure as to how they can help. You will receive several aligners, which will be used in sequence. Each one brings your teeth closer to their final position than the one that came before. Because they are made from clear plastic, they can escape the notice of others. Because they can be removed, you can eat and clean your teeth more comfortably than if you had traditional braces.

Straightening Your Teeth Offers More Than Just A Better Smile
Many people want to straighten their teeth because they are counting on a positive cosmetic change; however, there are additional advantages you can gain. If you have teeth that overlap each other, you can face an increased risk for cavities in the hard to reach areas this problem creates. If your alignment affects your ability to comfortably bite and chew, you may develop issues with TMJ dysfunction. Invisalign is most commonly used to correct gaps and spacing, overcrowding, underbites, overbites, crossbites and open bites.

Your Dentist Can Make Big Smile Improvements
It is possible to make a number of positive changes with cosmetic dental care. Your dentist can offer you improvements in the form of whiter teeth, and can even hide damage and developmental flaws. The best way to determine what treatment is right for you is to go in for a consultation. Our dentists can offer their expert insight into what procedure would best provide the results you wish for.

Avoid Cavities Through Regular Dental Checkups

Cavities can lead to serious dental damage, and demand restorative dental care. In other words, cavities are not something to look forward to. If your preventive dental care does not include routinely attending dental checkups, you are missing out on important protection. Each visit with your dentist involves both an examination and a cleaning. These measures make it easier for you to stop tooth decay from forming. Some patients who attend checkups will still experience some cavity trouble in their lifetime. These visits mean earlier detection and treatment, which makes the overall experience with decay less unpleasant.

How Professional Preventive Care Helps You Avoid Cavities
One reason preventive visits help so much against cavities is the cleaning your teeth undergo. Your dentist is able to remove debris and plaque from areas that are especially hard to reach on your own. You also need to receive professional cleanings if you want to have tartar taken off of your teeth. Brushing and flossing can allow you to prevent tartar from forming, but it takes your dentist’s care to remove it.

Early Restorative Dental Treatment Helps You Avoid Oral Health Complications
When your dentist identifies a cavity forming on a tooth, they can make sure the infected area is removed, and your tooth has support from a tooth filling. When you stay away from the dentist’s office until you have a toothache, you could learn that the cause is a cavity that has infiltrated the interior of your tooth. If that takes place, treatment will have to involve a root canal, and the placing of a dental crown.

Schedule A Dental Checkup With DaVinci Dentistry
Regular dental checkups at DaVinci Dentistry will help you make sure your smile is routinely examined for problems. This review, along with the professional cleaning you receive, will help you lower your risk for problems like tooth decay. To make an appointment for yourself or for a family member, call our Southlake, TX dental office today, or feel free to request an appointment online. We look forward to serving you!

Protect a Vulnerable Tooth with a Dental Crown

If your tooth needs a dental crown, you should understand that you are missing out on important protection. A dental crown is used to provide significant coverage of a tooth. A full crown will actually cover all of the tooth above your gum line, while inlays and onlays are used to cover a particularly vulnerable portion. The sooner you have this restoration in place, the sooner you can enjoy your best possible oral health. Thanks to CEREC technology, your dentist is able to produce full crowns, inlays, and onlays in a single visit. That means your permanent crown will be ready for you in less time, and you can enjoy protection for a problem tooth.

Have Your Dental Crown Sooner Thanks To CEREC Technology
CEREC technology puts everything necessary for making your permanent ceramic crown in your dentist’s office. In the course of just one appointment, you can have your crown designed, produced, and placed. Because the crown is made from ceramic, you will actually be able to enjoy a natural-looking restoration that avoids causing any distraction with how you look.

How Regular Checkups Help You Avoid Advanced Restorative Care
If you want to prevent a problem that will call for a dental crown, make sure you are regularly attending dental checkups. Your dentist will monitor your smile for any troubling issues – if something is found, you can enjoy prompt care and courteous care from DaVinci Dentistry. By limiting the amount of time an issue has to develop, you preserve more of your tooth structure. This means restoring a smaller cavity and having your tooth treated with a dental filling.

If you need a dental crown, you can enjoy one in just one visit thanks to the team at DaVinci Dentistry. Don’t Let Imperfections Keep You From Smiling

Close up of female mouth. Comparison after teeth whitening

Are you tired of feeling insecure because of your smile? Tired of limiting conversations with friends or coworkers because you worry they’ll notice the imperfections and inconsistencies in your teeth’s size and shape, gaps between them or even deep discoloration? Over time, many people begin to notice imperfections in their smile that can lead to insecurity. Fortunately, cosmetic dentistry makes it possible to address most flaws with wonderful, natural-looking results, so you can do more important things than worry about your smile. You can proudly show it off!

What Imperfections Are Causing Concern?

The first step in devising any treatment plan, cosmetic or otherwise, is to decide what are the exact causes of your concern. Knowing what you would like to achieve can help your dentist create a customized smile makeover. Your dentist will also discuss your budget, and how quickly you are hoping to achieve the results, in order to determine which treatments are right for you.

In some cases, for instance, treatment could be as simple as a take-home whitening treatment that can generally lighten teeth by several shades. In other cases, treatment might involve using composite resin to hide imperfections, or even porcelain veneers to improve uniformity of the smile by correcting inconsistencies in the teeth’s shape or size. For many patients, the best way to achieve their dream smiles is by combining some or several treatments, in order to properly hide imperfections.

A great smile can really help boost your confidence. Whatever your concerns, the staff at DaVinci Dentistry are dedicated to making sure you enjoy the healthiest and most beautiful smile possible. To set up an appointment for yourself or for a family member, call our Southlake, TX dental office today at (817) 251-9333. We are proud to treat patients in Southlake, as well as Grapevine, Colleyville, North Richland Hills, Keller, and the HEB corridor.
